Easter Parade Madness

While we were getting our Easter crunk on in NOLA, New York threw their own Easter parade.

Crazy hats were all the rage, obviously.

Thankfully, The Cut captured all the dazzling, ridiculous and sassy skimmers for us. There were tons of floral toppers, but some people impressed me. I’ve picked out some of my favorites, but click the link to see all 30!

My new life goal is to try to emulate these three lovely vintage ladies at all times.

If you’re going to wear a floral hat like everybody else, you better go all out with it.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE COUPLE OF ALL TIME. I saw this and immediately died. If your significant other doesn’t dress up like a fish in a suit just so you can don your favorite vintage dress and color your hair like a mermaid, he doesn’t love you.

Even though I’m pretty sure this whole look was his idea. How could it not be?

The best fucking powercouple ever. They probably live in Brooklyn and run the hottest organic gardening pop-up shop in town.

I leave you with this guy. He’s doing it right.

later dudes.

On the Mississippi

Hannah and our newest Revival babe, Caroline, spent a little time down by the Mississippi on a rainy Thursday last week.

Thankfully, Kevin VanGogh was there to capture the ladies in all their stylish glory.

Can we talk about that clear bubble umbrella? Dead. I need ten to keep me dry during all this crazy weather we’re having.

Better head into Revival and get yourself a pair of circle sunnies!

Isn’t Hannah the cutest lil thing in this sunflower sundress!?

I’ll take BOTH of those raincoats, please and thank you.

Rain or shine, Revival girls always killin’ it.

Can We Talk About…

The Wade Brothers.

Lyndon and Lindsey Wade

Lyndon and Lindsey Wade

Boss Lady Christina has her hand in a lot of awesome projects. She styles music video shoots, movies and commercials in between being you know, the Boss at Revival.  Just this past week she worked with two of the coolest kids in the photography game,  The Wade Brothers. Based in Kansas City, these brothers produce intense images through photography, directorial projects and creative directing. With an all-star list of clients under their belt, including Microsoft, Nintendo, Harley Davidson and Ebay, their visually pungent aesthetic can transverse multiple brands and mediums.

and playfully artistic characters and scenes.

Seeing the stills of their photography has me itching to sneak a peek at the twisted world of movement they create in film.

Did I mention I got to work with them too? Geeked up.

Can we talk about…

Gallery walls?

Thanks to Apartment Therapy, I’ve been returning to these photos on the daily while my roommate and I are deciding how to decorate the wall behind our couch.

This way just seems much cooler than one expensive huge art piece. AND you can hand-make the frames (OR JUST USE WASHI TAPE, THE TAPE OF THE GODS GRAPHIC DESIGNERS) or even have your friends make the art. Not only is the project affordable, but it can also be more meaningful than buying some obscure surrealist painting to impress your pompous, art-lover friends.

Screw your friends!

I love this muted color scheme; especially the rugged, open cement walls.

Style in Store

Often people come in to Revival and love what they’ve bought so much they wear it out. More often people come into Revival needing something funky to spice up their wardrobe.  But every so often customers come in looking like they walked right out of our store display window.

These fashionable shoppers came in to browse and buy looking eclectic, adventurous, edgy, hip, unique and just like the bad ass customers we love to dress!

The blog Where I See Fashion?

Alla Kostromichova by Sølve Sundsbø in “The Girl from Atlantis” for Vogue Japan May 2010 wearing Alexander McQueen | Snake skin

Literally I haven’t been checking a website as often as I do this one since I found Designlovefest two years ago.

Iris Van Herpen Spring 2012 | Old tree bark

How does someone even do this? Her ability to pair things and see fashion in the most unusual places is uncanny and absolutely brilliant.

Solange Knowles for Complex Magazine 2013 Cover Story | Sterlitzia (bird of paradise flower)

I don’t know who the girl is, but she’s a fashion design student from Milan. She doesn’t use her own images, either. If anything, she might use photoshop to get better colors.

Masha Radovskaya photographed by Remi Kozdra & Kasia Baczulis | Coloured light reflections on water

She started the blog just because she felt the need to do something with all the inspiring images she found on Tumblr.

Cracks by make up artist Alex Box

“Sometimes a fashion picture reminds me instantly of something and I go look for it, sometimes it’s a random picture that makes me think of an outfit or editorial.”

Fantasy Wedding Dress by Marchesa Spring 2011 | Smoke by Andrew Kim

“Occasionally it happens that by chance I see two pictures near each other on my dashboard or in a random blog that perfectly go together. Also I have A LOT of photos that I saved on my computer because I found them interesting, it’s like my personal archive and I use it a lot to make matches.”

“My Little Pony Goes Grunge” beauty editorial for BON MAGAZINE by JAKOB AXELMAN | Waterfall Island, Alto Parana, Paraguay

Can you imagine searching for hours through your archives of images to find that one picture you vaguely remember seeing two months ago from a random vogue photoshoot?

Like, kill me. That’s crazy.

Park Sera in “Couture Grunge” for Vogue Korea October 2013 by Koo Bon-Chang | Theater of Queen Marie Antoinette at the Petit Trianon

This girl is literally superhuman.

To finish, my ultimate favorite. You should seriously bookmark this girl, she is a constant source of inspiration.

It’s Raining… Vintage

Spring has begun, and in Louisiana that means we can see quite a bit of rain.  In New Orleans that means you may bike to work, and swim home.

16eKenFlood1Now it’s Friday, and you know we get all excited about the weekend. Not to mention it’s our Shop Lady Erica’s birthday today and our Head Honcho Christina’s birthday on Monday. So ya’ll know we’re tearing it up in these streets this weekend.

And little or a lot of rain is not going to stop that.

tumblr_lps3451u7r1qb62c4o1_500So you find an outfit that will keep cool enough in this 73 degree weather, but now need a raincoat to keep you dry during the thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Welcome to our new feature: REVIVALx(YOURNAMEHERE)

There are so many rad babes that we know, we just gotta collaborate with ’em! If you think you’ve got the look we want and are interested in collabing, e-mail us at therevivaloutpost@yahoo.com!

This feature is dedicated to Rosalina Young, the hip, stylish 22-year-old make-up artist from Abita Springs.

Not only does Young have a bomb-ass Youtube channel jam-packed with helpful makeup tutorials, but she’s also been featured on Beautylish AND FEATURED ON REFINERY29.

That’s some next level shit. Rosa don’t play.

Also, her freelance makeup logo is the cutest thing we’ve ever seen ever.

(I want to go to the BABEFACTORY!)

533988_434165136671209_528612029_nHannah Grace, our favorite little Revival lady, took Young out to photograph their day in the city. She also styled the pink tropical dress.

Young styled two of the three looks below: blue polka dot skirt + white top + that killer pastel jacket.

Follow her on insta and like her on FB!

Check back for more REVIVALx features.

Until next time, babes, keep it real.

Bat is the New Black

So, y’all have all heard about our lil collaboration with Lisa Iacono, right? If not, check out the last post. This is huuuuuuuge and the design is killa killa. ALSO YOU NEED TO VOTE RIGHT HERE GO NOW.

Do you see the sequin bat on the back? Crazy. Let’s talk about it.

I asked Lisa about her inspiration for the redesign. Here’s a little excerpt of our convo:

“My inspiration was the Revival Outpost girl–beautiful, eclectic, cheeky, street.  The design itself combined 2 ideas: michael jackson/marching band + heavy metal tough details = glam-rock-cocktail-hour barbie.”

I don’t think that there is a better description for a Revival girl than that.

“I had so much fun with this, as I got to bust out my hand sewing skills, something I really enjoy.”

Is Lisa talented or what? I was stunned when I saw the design. She also sent me some sketches, which, to me, is always fantastic. Seeing the initial thought process of a designer when she is trying to replicate a certain brand AND also staying true to his/her own is  so interesting.

Cutoffs? She knows us so well.

photo 7

“Because timing was tight, I decided not to plan the shirt from top to bottom before starting.  I just dove in with materials I had stored in a costuming bin.”

“I kept thinking I should really manipulate the t-shirt itself and cut it up, but the more I looked at it, the more I laughed.  Something about keeping the t-shirt intact, but making it into a cocktail dress…that’s funny.

My favorite detail is the black sequin bat shape that wraps over the shoulders and continues across the back body.  Bats, literally, on tees.”

Your turn!

We have until the 28th to prove that the Revival ladies got style so we can get some NOLA swag.

And who wouldn’t want to get our gals at Bats on Tees to the top?
